FORMULATION EXAMPLE • FOR REFERENCE & TRIALS

Dishwashing Liquid

A starter formulation to help understand ingredient structure and begin dishwashing-liquid trials.

STEPAN FORMULATION NO. 1188

OVERVIEW

Starter Formula for Dishwashing-Liquid Trials

A formulation example for reference and trials

This is an example formulation for reference, learning and initial trials. Final results may vary with raw materials, grades, water quality, processing, production conditions and other parameters. Conduct trials and evaluation before production or scale-up.

PURPOSE

A starter formula for an economical dishwashing liquid based on SLS, SLES-3 and Lauramine Oxide, following Stepan source No. 1188.

USE CONTEXT

Use as a reference for controlled trials. Record and evaluate ingredient identity, the actual process and results before scale-up.

SOURCE-ALIGNED PROCESS

Process / Mixing

The following sequence comes directly from the formulation process record; no additional temperature, speed, time or equipment is assumed.

  1. 01

    Water

Add Deionized Water to the mixing vessel.

  2. 02

    Primary surfactants

Add STEPANOL WA-EXTRA and STEOL CS-460 gradually while stirring until uniform.

  3. 03

    Secondary surfactant

Add AMMONYX LO and continue stirring until the mixture is uniform.

  4. 04

    Adjust viscosity

Add Sodium Chloride gradually to adjust viscosity.

  5. 05

    Adjust pH

Adjust pH with Citric Acid or Sodium Hydroxide if needed.

  6. 06

    Finish

Add Preservative, then continue stirring until the mixture is uniform.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Evaluate Problems During Trials

Stepan source No. 1188 does not provide specific correction guidance for excessive thinness or thickness, insufficient foam or cloudy results.

Technical troubleshooting guidance is not available in the source.

Record material conditions, mixing sequence, pH, viscosity and observations. Do not make technical corrections based on assumptions.

SOURCE & DISCLAIMER

Formulation Source

This is a reference/source formulation, not an original CMID formula. Material identity, actual conditions, process and trial results require verification. Trial results may differ.

Stepan Formulation No. 1188 — “Economy Liquid Dish Detergent with SLS/SLES-3/Lauramine Oxide”. This document is used as a supplier/manufacturer formulation reference. It is not an original formulation developed by CMID. Material conditions, process and trial results must be verified in the context of use.

Reference and mass clarification: the displayed fixed components total 100.00% before q.s. additions. Calculated mass is the fixed-component basis, not verified final mass after q.s. The source does not specify a final mass balance or water deduction for those additions; do not treat the table as a complete production recipe. The q.s. quantities and final mass balance must be established and verified in trials before scale-up. Source numbers are retained. The structured pH instruction is aligned with the source: Citric Acid or Sodium Hydroxide if needed, with no new dosage.
